"Picnic" will be a picnic
I'm so excited about being cast in Picnic! It will be my first show at Lakeshore that isn't the family holiday show. Even though I'm very sad that I won't be working with Claudia again for this show, I'm elated to be working with a new director! It will be a great learning experience for me! I'm also overjoyed that two of my greenie friends will also join in on the fun! Both Jacob and Jessica were cast as well. This will be my second show with Jessica and my third with Jacob. It will be exciting! Jacob and I always have fun on stage. Last time we were on stage together he was my father and I got to make puppy eyes and flutter my eyelashes at him....who knows what fun we'll have this time! Last time, Jessica and I only had one interaction on stage, so hopefully there will be more this time! I know that I will enjoy having Jessica and Jacob's smiling faces and encouraging personalities around, but I also plan to get to know the other actors in the show. I have very high expectations of this cast; the greenies are amazing, and hopefully this cast will be great too! I think that "Picnic" will be a lot of fun and-for lack of a better word-a picnic!

That's Why I Do It
Every once in a while, I do something that feels so right inside and every so often, it makes someone feel good too. That happened to me today. Let me give a little back story:
Last year a teacher from the middle school I attended was diagnosed with brain cancer. Over the past year, he has gone through various treatments. Over the past four months or so I have been working very hard to put a book together for him full of uplifting messages from students and colleagues. Today I was finally able to give it to him.
He has been working as much as he is able...he really does love what he does. He is an incredible teacher, friend, and human being. I don't know anyone who has taken a class of his and come away not liking it.
Besides his awesome teaching skills, Bil has kept his sense of humor through all of this. Last Halloween he dressed up as "Mr. Clean" because, due to chemo, he had no hair. He also looks for the positives in life and he remains optimistic, despite the prognosis. He stays strong!
I'm so blessed to know him. And I know that he is going to keep fighting!
It's people like this guy who help me remember why I do what I do. If not for people like him, I don't know that I could be so caring. It is so emotionally draining, but I love to make people feel good so I have to do it. He's part of the reason that I continue to be who I am.

Kate
